Top Ideas for Get Well VoiceQuilts
1. Affirm the future. Share favorite memories and talk about things you'll enjoy doing with the recipient when he or she is feeling better.
2. Include funny or inspirational music: college “fight” songs, themes from TV sitcoms or even religious music. Read more here.
3. Have your child sing a song, tell a joke or recite a favorite poem.
4. Inviting a group? Ask friends to fill in the blanks: “I still laugh when I think of the time we ______.” Or, “I really miss doing ________ with you! Get well soon.”
5. Piggyback off of existing groups. If your loved one has a Caringbridge, LotsaHelpingHands or CarePage, ask the administrator to post VoiceQuilt dialing instructions.
6. Share Early and Often. Many recipients tell us that hearing the voices of family and friends before a medical procedure is calming. Just download the messages you have so far as an MP3 file and play it on your digital audio player. You can continue to collect additional messages as more friends call in.
