Sandra was planning a special 50th birthday celebration for herself in France. Her two brothers, Alan and Neil, wanted to do something special to honor her. They knew she would appreciate something sentimental but they had a small problem: Alan was in the U.S. and Neil was in the U.K. Sandra and most of her party guests were in Europe.

After hearing about VoiceQuilt, Alan went to the website, and via e-mail, invited friends and family throughout Europe and the U.S. to call in with favorite memories. Since callers can record their messages at any time of day, the time zone differences were no obstacle. Then, both brothers reviewed the messages online and selected 33 messages from callers across the globe. They also asked us to include a bagpipe rendition of the Happy Birthday song. We thought this was a terrific idea and were happy to oblige.

When Alan arrived in France for the big day, he brought the best wishes of those who couldn’t be on hand for the celebration, via the VoiceQuilt. It was the next best thing to having those friends there with them. Sandra was almost speechless.
