Amy's Message | 0:41 |
Scientists have proven that babies hear sounds in the womb and recognize the voices of loved ones when they are born. When Amy gives birth to Paxton on April 18, 2008, he will already know many, many voices – because he has heard them on his very own VoiceQuilt.
Paxton's parents, Amy and Brad, received a VoiceQuilt Photo Frame Keepsake from Amy's friend, Sarah roughly three weeks before Paxton was born. Sarah thought that warm, loving messages from friends and family would be the perfect way to welcome baby Paxton into the world.
First, Sarah contacted Amy's family and college friends. Then, because Amy is an elementary school teacher at the school she attended as a child, Sarah reached out to Amy's fellow teachers and even some of her childhood teachers. Amy's mom contacted her friends.
The ease of calling VoiceQuilt's toll-free telephone line 24 hours a day made this gift easy for a group spanning multiple generations and geographies. Callers left messages of love and support for the baby and his parents. They sang lullabies, read stories, shared inspirational quotes and left memories of Amy and Brad.
Amy and Brad were deeply touched by the gift. Amy said she will always cherish the sound of her grandmother speaking to her son. Brad plans on playing the various VoiceQuilt lullabies to help Paxton get to sleep. And Paxton will have an audio keepsake that will always remind him of how much love heralded his entry into the world.
