Dorothy's Christmas Greeting | 0:43 |
Dorothy is an exceptional woman. At age 93, she's still going strong, with a sharp mind and a heart full of love for her ever-growing family. Each Christmas, she hand-knits dish cloths for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and gives them as gifts along with dining cards to a favorite restaurant.
This year, she decided to present her descendants with the gift of a treasured memory. With the help of granddaughter Melinda, Dorothy gave each recipient a VoiceQuilt keepsake which plays her 2009 Christmas greetings. All she had to do was call VoiceQuilt's toll-free number and record the message. From there, it was downloaded into identical keepsake boxes for each relative.
Dorothy read a special poem, written by Melinda, which referenced key milestones in her life and spoke of her deep love for the family. Inside the polished wooden boxes, Dorothy and Melinda added a photo of Dorothy, index cards with recipes – including Dorothy's prize-winning recipe for green jell-o salad – and, of course, the annual hand-knitted dish cloth.
Now, her family have a touching reminder of a beloved family matriarch for many decades to come.
