Bridget Poizner is a personal historian who heard about VoiceQuilt when the Association of Personal Historians created a birthday VoiceQuilt for Studs Terkel, the famous author and oral historian. Bridget thought VoiceQuilt would be a perfect way to add more voices to the historical heirlooms she creates for clients as founder of Save Their Story™. But first, she decided to test VoiceQuilt out on her own family.
Bridget decided to capture birthday greetings and memories in honor of her mom's 90th birthday. The focus would be on hearing the recollections from her mother's 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These audio tributes would accompany a photo presentation of her Mom throughout the years.
Because there were so many family members, Bridget asked callers to keep their messages short. The toasts and tributes that came in were funny, touching, and heartwarming, and reflected the callers' personalities. Bridget downloaded an electronic VoiceQuilt and synchonized the voice messages with family photos, creating a unique 17-minute presentation. She introduced it at the party by telling the 175 party guests that these tributes would replace the usual long series of party toasts!
After her experience, Bridget knew VoiceQuilt would work extremely well for her clients. She has begun incorporating VoiceQuilt messages into other projects and finds it extremely gratifying that future generations will read AND hear about a family member's life from a variety of perspectives.
